Capel falls into the portal. Amid swirling colors and deathly silence, hands reach out for her. She isn't sure whose they are. She's barely able to take one.
"Oi," says Elza's voice, although Capel can't see her. "This ain't your timeline, mate. It's time for you to go home and leave this one to the Capel who belongs here."
"Thanks, weird disembodied voice that sounds like my space mom."
"Uh... right. Anyway, go back to the plant and 'it your 'ead in the same spot you did before. Should jolt things back to normal."
"What about my friends?" Capel asks. "All the weird changes? Their names and races all changed."
"Ah... don't worry about that," says Elza. "No time to explain. Just get back to the plant. Everyone in your timeline misses you."
"Are you the Elza from my timeline?"
"Yep. Our timeline isn't the prime timeline. You stumbled into it."
Capel perks her ears. "Ohhh... we are side-characters who are approximations of the real people and due to forces and powers beyond our understanding, things were changed and re-arranged? Meta."
"Uh... Yeah. Wotever you said is probably right. Wake up, Capel. Your friends miss you."
