Return to Aloha

about

The Annihilator comfortably sat four, fortunately -- and it still ran fine. Getting it down from the fifth floor had been a bit easier than Capel had expected, too, considering the parking garage across the street. Sure, all the bushings were shot and it rode awfully now, but that could be fixed.

As they drove calmly away from the building, several police cars passed by in the other direction, sirens blaring. Not a one of them noticed the Annihilator purring its way back towards uptown.

"That was sheriff Kane," Sasha said, closing out the audiocall she'd been in, before glancing at Capel.
Capel bit her lower lip, made eye contact for a half-second, and then looked back at the road. It was much, much harder not to think about Sasha when Sasha was sitting in the passenger seat of the car.
"What he has said?" Capel mumbled, trying to sound interested in conversation, but not -too- interested. There was totally no way that she and Sasha were going to be involved again ... totally... probably... maybe...

Sasha put her hand on Capel's shoulder gently. "We have to go back to Aloha," she said.
Her hand was so warm... Maybe they could probably possibly...

"Aloha's that resort planet you and Capel used to work at?" Koto asked, having finished checking Joey for any injuries.
"It wasn't a resort back then," said Sasha. "And something tells me it isn't now.... but the three of us have to go."
"I'm going, too," Koto remarked flatly. "I'm not letting my sister get involved in something like this alone."
"I'm going home," Joey said into his hands. "Capel, you're totally banned from my bar for a week."
"Okay, and you are banned from being my best friend for a week," Capel grumbled, and looked out the cracked windshield once more.

The form of the spaceport could be made out against the horizon where it sat out on the beach, past uptown, downtown, the bridge, and the skyline.
