Long Way Up

about

Emerging from The Annihilator (whose headlights were now smashed and fenders now missing,) Koto and Capel took stock of their surroundings. This was the fifth floor of The Hayden Corp. building. Hayden Corp was the corporation that, many years ago, had tried to colonize the dessert planet, Aloha. Something about this seemed odd to Capel. She'd been stationed there... nevermind that, though, their PDAs were ringing again.

Koto, who had curled up into a ball of fear on the floor, clutched his. "T-they want us to go to the top floor..." he managed. "W-why d-do you ever drive..? Why did I agree to ride with you?"

A large set of double doors opened near the Anihillator. An elevator -- inside were a lot of those colorfully dressed punks Capel had seen around town, and they looked ready for a fight. By mandate, most nightbridge buildings did not have stairs -- this one included. There was only way up. A long way up.
